CHAPTER 0: Prologue
Once upon a time, in a land and time far, far away from here, lived a family of dragons. Living in the lands of the Lightbringer, as they did, each held powerful light magic. But it was the second daughter, who was most sought for her talents, as all the township knew of her powerful purification magic, so strong she was nicknamed the Lightbringer's Daughter.

With her powers, she cured many curses and fought all the strange demons of the domain. For this, she was honored with a glorious festival every spring, when new life and light returned to the world after the darkness had passed. As time went on, however, the second daughter grew overly proud of her talents, and began to take the adulation and gifts of the town as her just due. She looked down her nose at those around her, and refused to help those who did not pay her tribute.
As time went on, the dragons around her began to see her for what she had become, and though her family and closest friends tried to reach her, all others began to distance themselves.

Eventually, only those desperately in need came to her, and only those who had known and loved her in her childhood remained somewhat close to her.

None of this changed her attitude.

One day, a stranger stumbled into town, barely alive. His scales were half-flayed from his hide, and blood and gore streamed from his every orifice.
Most terrifying, he continually muttered fragments, which seemed to indicate the presence of unknown monsters nearby.
"They hide beneath the ruins...Destroy life... laugh at pain...my pain...one of thousands...bones everywhere...can't escape, never escape!...They lure beneath the ruins...none live, and they just laugh...ha ha ha!"
She began to question him with worry at first, but as he only spouted lunacy, her worry was replaced with disgust as she worked the most basic of healing magic upon him.
But as she slowly began to pay attention to his rambling, her interest was sparked. She resumed questioning him, this time about the monsters.
She couldn't understand why the townsfolk had been removing themselves from her recently, but surely if she removed such a massive threat, they would go back to adoring her like in her youth, right?
Once she had the location out of him, she deposited him at the local healers, packed a bag of her belongings, grabbed her exorcism kit, and set out for the ruins the madman had indicated.
She did not bother to tell anyone where she was going. After all, for someone of her skill, even such a threat would be simple. Besides which, she needed no help, nor to share in her rightful glory.
This would be perfect.
