Seeing a Nocturne the size of a Ridgeback always startles those who don't know her, but many suspect that Suspire grew into her role.

Suspire is a dragon of transitions, primarily between stages of life. Hatchlings usually have at least one meeting with her before they have their massive growth spurt and transition to adulthood, and before a marriage in the clan, the couple usually meets with Suspire. She usually has creepily relevant things to say on the subject. Suspire can guide someone through enlightenment as well, hence her name.

Because of the way the magic pooled around her egg, Suspire has been blessed (some say cursed) with a special kind of foresight. Using her special eyes, Suspire can see with surprising accuracy how and when someone or something will die. If she sees that the love in a relationship died long ago, and that the usefulness of the relationship to one or both parties is about to die, she will discourage a marriage. If a hatchling is fated to die young, she will encourage them to enter the service of the Icewarden, either living or dead. If she encounters something immortal, Suspire assumes she is too tired to see properly. This has very rarely happened.

Suspire's arguably most important duty is to prepare bodies for transition to the Fortress of Ends. For Suspire, death is a part of life. Somebody has to remember.
