Biography
Dragon is not a creature of nature. He is a creature of magic, misfortune, and misconception. He is a lie unto himself. But his greatest ability is his ability to ignore this fact, and carry on despite it. Indeed, over the years, it has proven beneficial for a dragon to be able to ignore his instinctual obligations, and destroy those that live below him. He has found some way to disconnect himself from the very world on which all others more truly rely, and shape it into the image he was created in. No matter the world in which dragons, or their ideals, are found; there will always be discord. This is the only law of nature that has been unbroken. Imbalance is created by ignorance. Ignorance is created by the acceptance of a misconception. And so the cycle is fashioned. Appellosine was a young, sweet hatchling. With wide eyes, and kind nature, he easily found his place in the once-small wind clan. However as the numbers grew, the factions formed, and the clan started to wander, Appellosine began to drift farther and farther from the social centers. Something began to change. His colors darkened, and clansmembers began to wonder if that was blood on his claws, or merely just his third color growing in. Disturbingly, omen seekers and larger Death Seekers began to flock to him, and fewer and fewer members would have anything to do with him. Soon, his feathers began to fall out- and now... Is he decaying? Too often hatchlings would wake in the middle of the night, only to find Appellosine standing near them, staring. If that weren't disturbing enough- he appeared to stop eating the food brought back by the gatherers- yet he always seemed to remain full. Yet as even more time wore on, those cold eyes were lost as well, and though the creature has fitted himself with a blindfold, some still whisper that something from within him peers out. Like two lost coals from a fire, they watch. ... What's happening? |

And Fate it screams "Be darker, go cold.
Sink your teeth into what you want and let all others fall underfoot."
Where there exists order chaos is required to balance it out,
To ensure that what we call "order" truly is.
Perhaps I am not evil.
But a counterbalance to something that those around me consider "good"
A necessary evil forged in flesh and failure
A creature built of once beloved parts now tainted.
Oh Gods why have you forsaken me?
Sink your teeth into what you want and let all others fall underfoot."

Perhaps I am not evil.

Oh Gods why have you forsaken me?
I'm colder than this home...
Cruel fate entices abandonment. Forsaken by the gods Sornieth follows, somewhere in fire territory a rotted out corpse of a once joyful dragon lives swarmed by scavenger birds with large eyes staring hungrily out of their chests. Appellosine cannot be summed up in words very easily. His decayed frame and covered eyes make even the most steel-nerved guardian or stubborn mirror think twice about approaching the imperial with intent, be it kind, cruel, or anywhere in between.
And all the kids cried out "Please stop you're scaring me."
Decayed and molting to the point of his wings going slowly bare to grey bone, the flesh of his face gone and cracked ribs jutting visibly out of his chest, Appellosine's appearance is frightening on its very principle. His behavior, however, simply serves to supplement this fact. Though he can no longer see, there are whispers of his staring- two dim coals still burning beneath the blindfold, reminiscent of the cold eyes that had once stared so intently at the hatchlings within his clan. He no longer eats... at least, not with the rest of them, and nothing they bring back from scavenging seems to go toward feeding him. He insists he's already eaten, that he's full... but on what, if not the food he's offered?
By the Deities you should be scared of me!
He's strange and comes off as dangerous- changed by whatever has afflicted him into a thing of tattered flesh and flowers. He watches and speaks very little, simply staring. Is this abomination even still a dragon? Is Appellosine still the hatchling that arrived when they dwelled within wind? Or like so many imperials before him, has his time come and passed without his knowledge, leaving his body to be inhabited by something not quite himself?
Who's in Control?
Keeping your distance only serves for so long, and for all his strangeness those who look upon him cannot help but pity him. Decaying but alive, wound with roses and covered in shaggy fur- grounded by wings that will no longer allow him to take flight. For the horror of his features there is still something all too sentient about him that evokes empathy.... no matter how little Appellosine himself might have for others.
