Biography
She let out a scream as the stone began to grow over her skin for the first time. Yes, it was a disease that had been passed down her family line for centuries, but she'd been desperately hoping it wouldn't consume her.
It was an agonizing process, like shedding skin, but rather it was flesh that sloughed off to reveal opal that had been growing beneath it for years. Worse yet, her wings, too, were rotting away. As the leathery skin between the bones slipped away, however, there were only very thin sections of opal. It surprised her, since such a mutation was fairly uncommon. Oftentimes dragons with this condition would lose flight entirely as their wings decayed.
Glacies was ecstatic, of course. She could still fly! Her wings, though stiff and hard, would continue to function!
However, she still feared how the opalescent illness would progress. What if it managed to take over her entire body?
As her scales and skin continued to fall away, she grew more and more frantic. Reaching her breaking point, Glacies found a dark magic-user who would turn the rest of her body into an inorganic material, just to keep the gemstone from spreading. All flesh and scales were to be turned to a material which could not be corroded, shining and stiff. Her organs would be protected by a layer of the same metallic substance, hindering their functions, but they would remain untouched by the opal.
