Biography

Uh-oh, looks like this snowy stargazer wandered a little too far from her home lair (BubblePaw, #395288), and now she's off to see the world! If ever you feel the need to exalt, she'd really appreciate it if you could just return her to the home lair, or to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, here. This is not necessary, but she would be very grateful!

Boreal's Diary

My parents are always talking about how wonderful it must be to see the stars from the other side of the continent. They say they can't travel, claiming there's too much work at home for them to leave the village. I've always wondered that, too, but I've also wondered about more than just the night sky.

I'm writing this just before I leave home. Perhaps I'll return one day to tell my stories, but for now, I'm going to explore the rest of the world!

I have arrived at the Moonlight Lair as the full moon rose into the sky, listening to its soft, whispering beckons. The stars had wove around my wings like fireflies, guiding me safely to the clan, which resided on an island by the ocean. The waves were so beautiful and majestic, rushing back and forth as if they possessed some kind of power. Maybe they did, but I do not know. The world is just so beautiful with so many unknown things.

The first dragon that greeted me was Twilight, guiding me through the darkness with shimmering light. He says he speaks to the spirits under the dim glow of stars at twilight, but I didn't believe him at first. I do now. We have gathered beneath the stars to watch the northern lights while he murmured their hushed words in my ears. It was a wonderful sight, and I couldn't help falling in love both with the scenery and the dragon.

Still, I couldn't help remembering
Congelata
, my previous lover, and how our hatchlings, sweet AbsoluteFool and humorous Cornmunism, didn't survive long. I really hope this affair will last longer, but something tells me it won't. Am I doomed to suffer forever?

I do not know. I just knew that we had two, wonderful hatchlings, playful Iris and observant Quartzwatcher. The latter child of mine has so many eyes that it's hard to hide anything from his sight. He seems to know that I had to leave soon, seeking the stars that have once again shifted in the sky.

This time, it is not that I don't want to stay, but I know that I must to seek my destiny beyond. Twilight and our hatchlings gathered around for a touching parting beneath the twinkling stars. I leave as I have arrived beneath the dim glow of the moon in the sky.

Whatever happens to me now, I know I will always keep them in my heart. Although the world hasn't changed, I know I have. There is no more energy that propels the once eager flaps of my wings, but there is love in my heart. That is all that matters. At least, I hope so.

As the last snows of winter drifted on the breeze, I found myself back in my homeland. Dragonhome was everything I remembered, from the dry earth to the endlessly beautiful skies at night. But, despite my joy at returning to this place, I knew that my journey was not yet over. I simply was not ready to return home.

As I neared the ocean, I discovered a clan situated dangerously close to the Cairnstone Rest. Remembering the stories I had been told about the sacred burial grounds, I drew nearer to warn them about the dangers of their territory.

Almost as soon as I landed, I was approached by a fearsome Imperial wearing golden armor. He demanded I state my business, which I did despite his rude behavior. I will never forget the distrust in his pale eyes as he pondered the reason for my visit, then stepped aside to let me in.

A Wildclaw greeted me as soon as I walked in. He introduced himself as Fruren and quickly dismissed my concerns about his clan's territory. He claimed that they hadn't had any problems with the ghouls inhabiting the Cairnstone Rest and that they didn't expect any. Without further delay, he showed me to a small room deep in the cave and told me that this was where I would stay. Then, he left me to my own devices.

Alone again at last, my mind wandered to the loved ones I had left behind. Though I was far from them now, I still felt their love burning in my heart. That night, I slept peacefully, though I knew I would soon depart again. I dreamt of snowflakes twirling around my wings beneath a starlit sky.

My restless wings have once again led me to the stars, guiding me this time deep into the ever-shifting breezes and storms that make up the Windsinger's home. As I tried to avoid getting caught in a gale that might have pulled me into one of the frantic storms of the Twisting Crescendo, my attention was caught by an extravagantly-dressed spiral twirling and twisting her way along as though unbothered by the winds. She noticed me and guided me safely to the ground, her lithe body twisting and spiraling around my wings to help make minute adjustments as we flew.

When we landed I was introduced to the clan leader, a tundra with a kind disposition who welcomed me to what she called Tundra Hollow, an apt name for the amount of the furred dragons who make the place their home.

I lingered with this clan for far longer than I anticipated. I could not say why, they were not particularly fierce or studious or knowledgeable, but there always seemed to be just one last thing to do before I took off, whether it was helping Eleadora with the latest hatchling clutch or one last talk with the enigmatic Ashmir. One thing, another, another, another.

Now I cannot ignore the stars' call any longer. It is time to bid farewell to my friends and take flight once more. I shall miss them, but I know more awaits me.
---

I returned home to visit my mother. We talked for hours about our lives and my findings. During my visit, I met Alba. When he and four of our hatchlings left the caves, I questioned continuing my travels myself. Libra chose to stay behind, so I decided to stay with her for some time. I taught her about the night sky, and shared my studies with her as well.

It's hard to see the stars inside a sea cave, and eventually I felt the urge to leave again. After bidding farewell to my mother and daughter, I left at dusk as the moon rose and constellations began to shine in the sky.
