Fentris had liked the solitude. When practicing alchemy, one could never be too sure of what would result. For that alone, solitude had been preferable. Two, he'd found it a personal preference as the sounds and whispers of the Tangled Wood surrounded him. Then he'd found the little fae, Salene.

There wasn't much for it. He was in the middle of nowhere. Shadowbinder help him, he took her in. Taught her the ways of the Shadowbinder. She found a joy in exploring, and he took joy in the quiet as she adventured. However, he also found himself happily listening to her chitter about what she'd seen and heard.

Then she started bringing in other dragons. Dragons lost in the Tangled Wood. Hatchlings. Eggs. He'd even found love with one, Oceania, before the trouble with the Beastclans arose and she went to serve the Shadowbinder directly. And then one of his experiments PRODUCED an egg, and he decided that he supposed his time of true solitude was at a complete end.

During one of their lair expansions, Salene made sure to give Fentris space of his own - a suite with a library, alchemy lab, and nest. While he did still retreat to his suite for solitude, though, he found that the Tangled Wood now had new sounds. Those sounds had taken quite a happy meaning for him, and he found he enjoyed the happenstance clan that now surrounded him.
