Being the grandchild of a clan's founding dragons will provide some special treatment, but not nearly enough to guard against being ground up into gold, or "exalted". Not nearly enough to protect all the ill-fated children of Miris and Iharaira, the heir and his mate. Luckily for Crimson, having a coloring unlike any in the clan allows him to pull off apparel that no others could dream of wearing. This is how Crimson, born with all-basic genes, survives the ruthless purges of his clan.
