Biography
Shyla
(They/Them)
The Night Enchanter
(They/Them)
The Night Enchanter
Shyla is a, well... shy dragon with an undying love for the night and darkness in general. They believe good comes from the dark and has always enjoyed practicing wholesome dark magic. While Shyla saw nothing but goodness from this beloved magic, other dragons harassed them relentlessly for it, calling them all sorts of names. Mostly Light dragons. Shyla was deeply hurt by this and ran away to seek shelter from the rest of draconic society, believing they were truly just better off alone. In their isolation, they continued to practice their dark magic. Rumors spread that they were preparing for a revenge attack, but that wasn't the case. They merely wanted to prove everyone wrong that the dark CAN indeed be a wonderful and cherished thing.
While Shyla was away in hiding, they performed a spell which shot a beam of stars skyward into the dark night. This enchanting work of art caught the eye of a nearby traveler who came to investigate the source. Shyla, of course having bad luck with other dragons, feared the stranger that stood before them, but the stranger was quick to assure Shyla of their safety.
"Fear not!" The snake-like Spiral spoke in a calming voice. "I am not here to hurt you... did you perform that beautiful display of nightly wonder?"
Shyla immediately felt calmer by the Shadow Spiral's presence. The Spiral introduced herself as Dauraneva and explained that she came from an Arcane clan that celebrates the beauty of all elements. Shyla pondered this... all elements? Including Shadow? They told Dauraneva of their troublesome tale and the two dragons immediately felt a bond with each other. They both understood each other and have been through similar trials. Shyla followed Dauraneva to her Arcane home and became her apprentice in dark magic ever since.
Shyla was wary of the dragons of Sokuna for a while, especially those of the Light element. However, Dauraneva promised to protect them and made sure they were safe from harm. One dragon in particular who was curious about Shyla was a Pearlcatcher named Nathy. Nathy was much like Shyla, in that she was shy and wary of others due to her own experiences with harassment, but she seemed to want to be friends with the shy Bogsneak. Overtime, Shyla grew to feel comfortable around Nathy and has shared their love for the darkness with her. Nathy in turn has taught Shyla a few tricks in dream magic. Although Shyla cannot create dreams themself, Nathy has encouraged Shyla to use their magic for peaceful enchantments to put anxious dragons to sleep and add a pit of nightly bliss to the dreams Nathy creates. The two dragons have become inseparable friends and make a great team in collaborating with sweet dreams to spread to everyone. Even occasionally pulling pranks on each other which seem to include a gag involving cans of green beans... nobody understands why. They both just say "We don't question the beans."
