Biography

In Philo's youth there was a long time when the lair went without food. But suddenly one day the lair-keeper brought an abundance of all sorts of delights - seafood, meat, plants, insects, you name it.
Happy as he was to be finally fed after a prolonged fast, Philo was perplexed. "Why the feast?" he asked the lair-keeper.
"Dragons can only be sent off after they've been fed," explained the lair-keeper, impatiently waiting for everyone to finish eating before she can drag them to the Coliseum.
"Sent off?" Philo meekly asked. "Sent off... where?"
"To our goddess."
"Will we ever see them again?"
"No," said the lair-keeper nonchalantly, all the while eyeing the feasting crowd for... hm, suitable candidates. Ah, that one, she had been tired of him for a long time...
"... why?" insisted the young fae.
The lair-keeper smiled.
"Why, my dear, for treasure of course. I'll tell you a secret, OK? You see, everyone has a little treasure trove, right? But when I convince them to go to the goddess, they can't take the treasure with them, so what happens to the treasure?"
The lair-keeper winked and left. The dragons had finished eating, it was time to go.

Before the altar of the Lightweaver, the lair-keeper is giving the final speech of motivation.
"... and so in the eternal war that embroils the realms, may you be the vanguards for the forces of Light! Go, serve the cause of our Deity!"
With these words, the chosen dragons, ecstatic with the honor they are receiving, line up one by one and proceed towards the light. They do not see, nor does the lair-keeper, the sad eyes of a small fae hidden in the shadows behind the ruins.
