Aim: describe the power of nature (ocean + lightning) and convey the wildclaw's connection to both and great strength.

Riptide walked along the shore, the deep imprints of each clawstep immediately swept away by a downpour of rain. Salt and sand became one with the wind, beating against his tough scales as he struck a scarred surfboard down into the sand - two figures overlooking nature's tumult.

Riptide paddled across the waves and shifted his weight, bringing his feet onto the board. He looked up, blue eyes bright against the dark sea and clouds.



Removed lines:
The white crests of the plunging waves were illuminated by flashes of lightning, before the drumroll of thunder announced the next onset of waves.
Wind whipped the crests of the waves away, so trails of water flew sideways.
Eyes wide: the dark sky, the churning ocean, and the lightning that connected the two.
A particularly bright bolt sets the sky ablaze in light, the silhouette of dragon and surfboard outlined, and if you didn't look carefully they were simply two good mates reminiscing.
A plunging wave slammed onto the shore sending chunks of sand into the air. The cyclone whipped the crests of the waves away so lashings of water blew away.
