But he's forever at odds with Daffodil because he's far more protective of the collections - the fertility idols and old books and stuffed animals and oil lamps - than the heaps of gold coins and high-quality gemstones. He's attempted to explain, gently and patiently, that he considers the gems communal property, unlike the pressed flower collection that belongs to Serenade, but Daffodil thinks if he's going to guard the hoard, he should guard all of it.

But that's how he sees it. His charge isn't currency. His charge is the items that have been painstakingly collected by members of the clan - their effort, care, and pride, represented by the belongings they've accumulated.
