The Miraculous Mechanical Marvel

Bugle (or "Bug" for short) is... a fascinating thing. From a distance, she looks pretty much like any other pearlcatcher but when you get closer, you start to realise she's nothing of the sort. She's a robot, all made up of scrap metal and spare parts. Yet despite all of this, she still manages to act more human than some of the other people in the clan. From what I've gathered from our few conversations, she's kind, friendly and extremely talkative, yet she's also very gullible and a coward. She's sort of like your average teenage girl except more shiny. The way she was created with realistic flaws like any other dragon would have is just so interesting to me.

She was created by another dragon in the clan, a highly anxious tundra inventor named Amethyst. Why he created her is a complete mystery, but it's clear the two have some kind of father and daughter-like bond between each other which I think is very sweet. The bond between the two means she spends quite a lot of her time with him, usually helping him with his various inventions or helping him fix anything that's broken. (Most likely the dreaded sound system, a device he carefully created to help with the "ambience" and yet somehow manages to keep breaking, though no-one's really sure how.) She also likes to help out seamstress and costumer Rainbow, who seems to be her best friend and frequent gossip partner. It's worth noting that Bug doesn't actually have any sewing skills and is mainly just there to see Rainbow but the guardian doesn't seem to mind. Despite her willingness to help out however, she doesn't seem to have any sort of official job within the clan.

The closest thing Bugle really has to a job is on a sunny day, she will sometimes sit outside and entertain the young guests as their parents occasionally throw her a few gems, which she quickly pockets for herself. Even then, this isn't exactly mandated by the clans leaders. (I'm honestly a little surprised they haven't tried to capitalise on her more, I'm sure a technological breakthrough like her would bring in many more visitors, not to mention much more money.) I suppose it doesn't really matter though. It isn't really harming anyone and everyone involved seems to be having a good time, so I don't really have any reason to complain. Besides, some dragons do far worse.

Now, the reason I specified "sunny day" is because she has a crippling phobia of water and refuses to go outside if the sky shows virtually any sign of raining. This is... unusual to say the least, especially since I know for certain that she's 100% waterproof. This is a fact she's been made well aware of plenty of times but it never seems to sink in. On particularly rainy or stormy days, she apparently has a habit of wrapping herself in a blanket and curling herself into a corner whilst someone (usually Amethyst) sits by her and comforts her, though I've never seen this happen myself. Luckily for her, the clan will often plan their travel routes to avoid the rain. It's not really for her sake though, it's simply because it's much harder to set up a tent in the rain.
