Biography
Gawain loved Aelwen. Even though she was way taller than him, she was funny and nice.
“Hey Gawain. You have watch tonight?” Aelwen asked. He nodded.
“Could I sit with you?”
“Yeah, that would be great.” He smiled at her, and Aelwen sat beside him, coasting him in her shadow. The night slowly fell over the two dragons keeping on watch. Around midnight, what looked like a dark shape landed in the center of the lair. Gawain jumped up, leaping at the figure.
“Got ya Denye! Ha!” He yelled a battle cry and tried to sink his teeth into the dragon’s wing.
“What? I’m not Denye. It’s me, Katanta.” Ka yelped, shaking him off. Aelwen barreled down to them, helping Gawain off of Ka.
“Why are you back?” Aelwen asked Ka.
“Long story. I ran into Starflight in the marketplace and he told me about Raven.” Katanta looked at him pleadingly.
“You want me to show you to her?” Gawain asked, skeptical by how nervous she seemed.
“Yes, I have something that could help her.” Ka pulled out a Wisp Fruit. “It’s her favorite. Could you please give it to her? I can’t stay much longer.”
Gawain nodded, and Katanta handed it to him. Then, she took off.
“She looked like she was in a hurry.” Aelwen noted. The pair went to where Ravenfeather was, with Opal sitting next to her.
“Hey Opal. Anything new?” Gawain asked the pale Skydancer. Opal shook his head, looking tired. Gawain handed the fruit to him.
“Ka said this might help.”
Gawain watched with hope as Opal put it by Ravenfeather’s mouth. Her nose twitched, once, twice.
Nothing.
“Come on.” Aelwen whispered, and with a jolt, Ravenfeather’s eyes snapped open.
Gawain let out a sigh of relief.
All was well.
