In the shade of the Behemoth, a tiny plant grew alone. It was unlike any other plant around it, with thick, spiky leaves and a bluish tint. The tiny plant grew bigger and bigger over time, and a large stalk started protruding out from the center of the plant. It turned out to be a flower. When that flower bloomed, out tumbled a young Imperial-looking dragon.
This young dragon looked remarkably like the plant that created it. The researchers around the Behemoth wished to take the hatchling and dissect it, while the more gentle-hearted dragons called for the hatchling's care and health. The plant-dragon ultimately chose to stay with the gentle dragons, where he was called 'Agave' for the plant that he came from. Months went by, and the hatchling showed no signs of growth. He remained as small as when he first emerged, making his foster parents worry about his health. He did not seem weak, his wings were strong and healthy, but he did not grow a single centimeter. This caused a discourse between his caretakers, who began to argue over the best treatment for the young dragon. While they were distracted, the pup's attention was stolen by a tree-like Wildclaw that was crossing the clearing outside. He felt a draw towards her, and without a sound he found his feet walking him across to the she-dragon. She flinched when the pup touched her foot, whipping her head around to look at the thing on her foot. When she saw it was a hatchling, her eyes softened. The pup looked back at his caretakers, still arguing, with a forlorn look, then scratched something for them in the dirt. He then turned back to the Wildclaw, attempting to climb her leg. She complied, picking the hatchling up and placing him on her back. She quickly headed off, the hatchling urging her to go so they wouldn't be found. The she-dragon introduced herself as Amazon. The pup could understand her just fine, but seemed to be mute, so when she asked his name he hopped off onto the ground. He wrote out 'they called me agave' in the soil, shaking his head and looking back up at Amazon. "That isn't a good name for a dragon. How about we call you... Paz." The pup, now christened as Paz, looked delighted at the new name. He crawled his way back up onto the she-dragon's back, shifting his feet in happiness. Pleased with this outcome, Amazon started back on her path again. They left the lush forests Paz was born in, crossing into a dusty, diseased land that slightly frightened the dragonling. He burrowed further into the she-dragon's back, peering out at the painfully bright desert. Despite his fear, he felt at home. |
