Q: What is it like to be a soldier/guard? I have heard from a few of the dragons in my lair, but I like to hear diffrent views on it.
A: The dark-coated Coatl gazes at you through the skull shadowing his face, his red, goat-like eyes calculating. "Well," he begins, voice a low, smooth noise. "I believe it is an honor, to be seen worthy enough to be chosen onto the Garrison, no matter how much you had trained beforehand."
"I once knew a young Coatl, we'd been training together for nearly a year, and when the time came for the Garrison to gain new soldiers, I was chosen," As Uriel explains, his eyes lower briefly. "She was passed over, and for the longest time, neither of us knew why. I found out why, a few months later - she'd been chosen after a few months of more training and after a nasty battle took many."
"She died just over a year ago. She'd protected me, allowed the opponent to maul her instead of me - her last words," He continued, swallowing thickly and speaking through grit teeth. "Her last words is that she loved me, and that's why she thinks she didn't get through the first time around - she'd been too focused on watching me train, watching me succeed, to do her own training. If she didn't love me, she'd still be here."
He stops suddenly, head lifting. It was as if he'd just realized he was rambling about something personal. Clearing his throat, the Coatl quickly ends the conversation with, "What I was trying to say, is that you can't get attached as a soldier - your enemies can use it against you, and people do stupid things for love. Other's may have different views on this, but this is mine."
