Biography
A ghost in the world of the living.
-
Boo is, to put it simply, a foreigner. After getting lost on her birth clan's yearly migration -- or perhaps abandoned, as she sometimes wonders -- she found herself in the realm of the Gladekeeper. Far from home, she settled close to the Everbloom Gardens, not far from Oreiasys and Bear's nest. At night she often nestled by the pair, driven by an intense longing for the comfort of her own parents. Yet whenever she saw them in the daylight, she shrank back and hid within the deep undergrowth.
Now she is friendly with the youngest hatchling of the pair's nest, Theia. Nevertheless, she still feels the constant reminder that she is, undeniably, an outsider to the Nature flight.
-
The loneliness of her childhood has permeated her personality, even as an adult. Her awkwardness in the social encounters earned her jabs from other dragons, and now she has abandoned speaking and socializing altogether.
Now and again she sees a shadow out of the corner of her eye. She hears whispers of awful, awful things in her ear. She feels followed, haunted by something she can't identify, something that sends shivers down her spine to the tip of her tail. And other times she feels nothing, lets it whisper to her, lets it sap her strength from her.
-
It was funny that she liked him, the boy who lay by her waterfall. He looked otherworldly in the moonlight, like an aurora, like an alien, like -- something she'd never seen before. He made her feel as if she couldn't catch her breath. So she did something she hadn't done in a long time. She went to him, as she had gone to other dragons so naively in the past, hoping in vain for some semblance of comfort. And he smiled at her, and told her hello. He asked her name, but she couldn't tell him. Boo, she thought fiercely, hoping she could force her lips to form the word. But she couldn't tell him.
-
In the end, she never told him her name. He said he was going to sleep for the next few hours before he set out again, but when she woke up to a crown of flowers in his spot, she knew he had not. She wondered if he would remember her.
But as she turned the flower crown over and over in her hands, the voice in her ear told her that he would not.
