As the years went on, Mal started having a craving. A craving that he was ashamed of and knew could not be spoken of. He wanted to kill. To quench his thirst, he'd go into the woods and kill for sport, but eventually he needed more. He needed to kill dragons. He never thought this day would come, but he found himself unconsciously murdering dragons left and right, but always careful to never leave evidence. Mal found himself developing a hatred towards Earth dragons, for no obvious reason. One night, Mal couldn’t help it and had to go into the village to find his next victim. He found one, the deed got done, and he was just about to leave the scene when his two daughters stepped out of the shadows. There was confusion, shock, and disappointment in their eyes. My daughters, my precious daughters, how could I let you get tainted by my darkness? Mal couldn’t take it anymore. He flipped out and lunged at them, snarling. Before they could even attempt to escape, they were laying lifeless on the ground. Realizing what he had done, Mal regained consciousness and stared. Shame filled his head, and he let out a sob. He rushed home, hoping to see his daughters there, but knowing in the back of his mind he’ll never see their gorgeous smiles again. His wife was waiting for him at the foot of their lair, her face full of fear. How can she know already? How?? It’s not my FAULT. Shame filled Mal’s head once again, and he lunged. But this time, a voice in the back of his mind held him back, his own voice, and his wife was able to escape with her life hanging by a thread. Mal also ran, but from himself. He found himself huddled under a bramble bush, tears leaking down his face. It was then that the Shadow goop first burst from his eyes and ran down his face, and would run forever, a constant reminder of what he’d done. Malojo remembered back to the earlier days, where he knew he was meant for something big. If murdering his children and maiming his wife wasn’t it, then what was it? Suddenly, words flashed through Mal’s mind. Find the land where stars grow and and the dragon’s claws reach towards the sea. And that’s exactly what he did. There was only one clan that lived directly in the middle of the Crystalpime Reaches and the Starwood Strand. The Clan of the Starwood Shores. Mal flew there (it was only a few days flight) and asked for a place to stay. He told the small tundra his family was killed by a pack of savage mirrors and he was the only to escape. The tundra allowed him in, but little did Mal know, he was skeptical as Seraphina suddenly became very ill the morning of and Boden had a dizzy spell while working with Kato. They assigned him the job of patrolling parameters. Mal knows he has to strike when they least expected it, so he lies in wait, while the clan becomes more suspicious of him. ________________________________________ |
