Zomderg Subclan
Pack Member, Experiment Not that long ago, Zella woke up without any memories. She was alone on the edge of the Abiding Boneyard, starving, badly wounded, her wings atrophied and useless. The shadow dragons that found her assumed she was a survivor of the wastes. They took her in, gave her a name, nursed her back to health, yet she could not stay with them. She left, wandering without direction through the heavy, dangerous mists of the Tangled Wood, surviving due to the sheer intimacy of living through the Boneyard. She emerged into the Sunbeam Ruins, blinded by the light. An imperial scientist and philosopher dedicated to the Lightweaver noticed her stumbling around and guided her into his home, a quaint cottage set apart from any other dragons in the Hewn City. The cursed darkness brought relief to Zella's sensitive eyes, but not soon enough to notice her mistake. She found herself locked in a cage underground, helpless and trapped. The imperial kept her captive for so long she lost track of time. He experimented on her, telling her he would uncover the truth once and for all. She didn't know what truth he was speaking of, only that she knew she was not the way to find it. Nothing discouraged the imperial, who kept at it with a headstrong, positive attitude, even as he modified her useless wings, replacing part of the membrane with a heavy lens that refracted the strange half-light in the area around them. She escaped from him quite by accident, when an experiment was interrupted by a group of pearlcatchers come to gloat about their own research. Flustered, the imperial chased the pearlcatchers away before they could see what he'd done to the ridgeback he'd captured, but by the time he returned to where he'd left her, she was gone. With great effort, Zella crawled back to the Wandering Contagion, in worse condition than when she'd left it. She was on her way back into the Boneyard when she found this lair. The attachments on her wings intrigued the other dragons, but upon hearing her story, it was Rairye who convinced her to stay. Both survivors of the Boneyard, the two became close friends. To this day, Zella still remembers nothing before she woke up, but she curses and spits at the Lightweaver's followers for what they had done to her, show kindness and endless patience to the dragons of shadow. |
