Biography
Venarius Erebosson
Ashdiver Mage
Deserter from a shadow army, Venarius fled south across the Sea of a Thousand Currents in a pirate ship in search of freedom. He didn't realize that he'd only be trading in one set of codes for another.
Venarius pelted headlong down the crumbling docks. His claws scratched the rotting wood in an uneven rhythm; he held a worn hide-bound tome close to his chest with one paw with wings outstretched and flapping occasionally to keep his balance. Normally Venarius would make a day of it, sneaking onto the ship, ideally only discovered once they'd crossed the Sea. However, the boarding plank thing had been picked up from the dock, there weren't any ropes connected to the dock, and a bunch of the sails were being untied and springing out to billow in the strong breeze. Venarius didn't know much about boats, but even the untrained onlooker it would seem that this ship was about to depart, and he needed to get on board fast.
This ship, he was sure, would be the fastest way to get as far away from the Tangled Wood as possible. By land or air, dragons needed to rest, but ships never needed to stop. Besides, cutting across the Sea was the fastest way south, and only watercraft could do that. Even the swiftest and most tireless dragons couldn't cross the Sea in a day. And then, without water dragons, the crossing was impossible. Even for his former allegiance. Actually, thinking of it, Venarius had never met a water dragon in his life. Ah, yes. This would go well. His plan was foolproof.
