xxxxxOne of the eldest dragons in the Pagfenx, Sotion is one of the few dragons that left without any issues from their former clan. Rather, he left to start a traveling business selling his handcrafted sculptures and figures made from various materials such as clay, marble, granite, and even glass. He was certainly jack of all trades, master of none, and enjoyed what he did.

xxxxxOn one of his last months out before he decided he would take a break and head back to his clan in Dragonhome, he heard a loud crash outside his temporary lair in the Ashfall Waste. He looked out and noticed a dull Coatl had crash landed into his sacks and bags full of materials. He rushed out to help the weakened Coatl and provided her with some food he'd just gathered. The Coatl introduced herself as Talota and the two decided to find a more permanent home. Seeing the soon-to-be Pagfenx, Talota and Sotion decided to stay there and live a happy life together.

xxxxxHis pearl has multiple layers of various foils that showcase a pattern that matches his tattoos. The meaning of his tattoos is unknown.

The dust swirls gracefully around the Pillar of the World where an older clan resides. Messengers are flitting about in the distance. Occasionally, a courier dragon dashes by, carrying a package or pouch, before soaring off back towards the horizon. It's lonely in Dragonhome.

The clattering of metal against metal makes itself known. A pale Nocturne with blood-red wings and belly and wearing similarly colored feathers flies toward the clan. The peridot jewelry he's wearing is clanking aginst his ebony filigree armor. He lands just outside the entrance, clutching a single scroll that's held closed with orange wax. The wind Nocturne clears his throat.

"Letter for Infection and Sonia!"

He chirps. His voice is slightly wobbly from being nervous. This was, after all, his first day on the job.

Inside the scroll reads...

Dear Mama and Papa,

It's been quite a while since I left as a young hatchling to pursue my career in sculpting. I'm sure you remember how I looked before I left: a confident twinkle in my eyes, my short reddish mane blowing in the stale summer breeze, my tail curled around my precious pearl, and bags set by my sides containing a sack of treasure and my tools. I knew you were both anxious about my long journey around Sornieth, but I promised that I would one day return home. I remember taking off that evening wondering if I had made the right choice.

I was worried that anyone I would meet would try to cause me harm. For the most part, I'd gotten over that fear by the time I got to the second week. The second week, I set up a temporary stand over at the border of the Tangled Wood. Everyone, save for a few exceptions, had treated me nicely. It wouldn't be until my third month, when I settled in the heart of the Tangled Wood, that I'd encounter my first thief. Thankfully, she didn't get too far away and was quickly caught by her clanmates. I enjoyed this nomadic life, selling intricate statues and simplistic carvings. I kept my customers interested with my "jack of all trades, master of none" abilities. I'd even tried glass-blowing when I traveled to the border between the Windswept Plateau and the Ashfall Waste. I loved traveling and kept records of my travels through some golden tattoos I'd constantly add onto. I've even gone as far as to add layers of gold leaf along with my pearl.

I was about to leave the Ashfall Waste to go home and began to pack my bags when I'd heard a thundering crash outside my burrow. I ran outside, wondering if a thief was attempting to steal my mediums, when I saw a weakened Coatl amongst the rubble. Her head peaked up from the cart she'd knocked over and her crest lowered. She began to apologize for the mess she made, to which I accepted her apology. She mentioned she had grown weak from hunger and had run away from her clan in the Reedcleft Ascent since she was being mistreated. I happened to have some fish I was about to sell and offered her what I had. Her earthy plumage and kind tone reminded me of home. We traveled together, telling stories about each other along the way. One day, we happened upon a very small clan. It wasn't marked on my map, so it must've just started. Upon closer inspection, it seemed lively and plenty of other dragons lived there. I decided to stay nearby to help this clan grow. Talota, the coatl, and now my mate, had also agreed to stay close by. Turns out that that clan was full of outcasts like Talota. She wanted to stay and be accepted. I wanted to get back home, but how could I resist my dear's eyes? 3Txjz54.png

While this clan was growing, our clan hit a strain of bad luck. Time after time again, we went through waves of what was originally thought to be a disease, making my clanmates turn on each other. We thought a small pawful, including my mate and I, were immune to this "disease". We forced the affected ones out wave after wave. A few years later, our researched proved to us that we were wrong. This wasn't a disease at all, it was possessions. The original piece of land we settled on happened to be haunted by several spirits. These spirits were possessing us and making us turn on each other. As I'm writing this, I'm still worried, but do know that if something ever happens to the few of us that haven't been affected by these spirits, I will come home. If she's not affected, I'll bring Talota along, too. In the meantime, do know that I'm alive and well and have not, and will never, forgot about you.
Your Son,

Sotion
