Salome took after her father in every way. The thick shiny hair, the bright eyes and the love for adventure, but most of all the carefree laugh that rang out like joyous bells.
When she was younger the differences between her and her mother were extremely apparent. It created a veil between the two females, both struggling to make conversation or even find some common ground. She wasn’t a bad child, and her mother wasn’t a bad mother, but they were a poor match in personality for each other. Salome was boisterous and rather loud and her mother was quiet, refined and nearly always had a serious expression on her face. Sometimes she wondered if her mother had experienced some bad things to make her this way or if she had always been like this, and the next thought was always ‘Why had her father married such a depressing woman?’ To escape the raining effect her mother had on her, she tried to stay out of the mansion as much as she could- joining her father at his office downtown or playing with friends or other family members. A couple of times her father had tried to make her spend quality time with her mother, but activities her mother participated in included embroidering and reading which were so extremely dull, she had taken to telling anyone who listened that she’d torn her own eye out from boredom. It was no doubt a lie, one she tried to keep a secret to uphold her reputation. It wouldn’t do for it to get out that she actually had a severe sensitivity to light in one eye which is why she donned the eyepatch.

As an adult, she managed to struggle through small talk with her mother but it was unnatural and forced- however it bothered her less than it should’ve, as her life was stuffed to the brim of things she loved - adventure, fun people and ice cream. She began making her own ice cream at the tender age of twelve after her father had told her stories of the family business. Her passion for ice cream grew, and shortly she left her family for a clan who promised to embrace her talents and creations. There was endless sugar, cream, syrups and honey, but best of all, an orchard filled with trees which produced the juiciest fruits for adding to her creations. It was less grand than her old mansion home but more humble, loving and jovial. There was no more mostly empty rooms with silence to engulf her, no more serious faces from her siblings and the distant smile from her mother. This was where she belonged.
