Sunlight shines over the snow-covered mountaintops. The snow reflects the rays, making it look like the mountain is ablaze. A rainbow disappears behind the mountains. RedFlight sits on one of the rocks, looking at the sunset. One day she will fly over those mountains to find out what’s behind them. She often dreams about it. Soaring over the mountain range, her wings spread. Feeling the wind in her fur. She closes her eyes and smiles.
“What are you thinking about?”
Another guardian sits next to her. It’s RedFire, her best friend.
“Remember that dream I told you about? The one about the mountains.” She points at the mountains, now slowly turning black in front of the setting sun.
“You mean the one where you fly over them or the one where you crash into them?
” RedFire askes smirking.RedFlight gives him an annoyed look."[/i]
“I said dream, not nightmare.”
“I know, I was just teasing you.”
She looks at him, but he already turned his eyes to the now-almost-disappeared sunset. They settle into silence, as they always do. Being friends since they were hatchlings, they were practically family. She loved to be around him. It made her feel secure and loved. She looks away and smiles. All those dreams about flying over mountains, finding treasure at the end of a rainbow, eating ice cream – it was nothing compared to him.
Her best friend was her dream come true.
