Moonstone was hatched from one of the first clutches of the lair, when there were scarcely a dozen dragons in a small patch of Shadowbinder's domain. As a hatchling, she was more interested in listening to the adults than she was in play. This resulted in a somewhat lonely time as a hatchling, but it served her well as the clan grew and AngelFall needed more assistance to manage the clan's resources. Moonstone was young, bright, and full of enough energy to serve her matriach's many needs. She soothed conflicts, ensured the clan's fledgling fighters had enough food and healing to keep them strong, and coordinated parties to gather resources for the clan. Then came the day when Angelfall and Daichi, founders of the clan, walked into the shadowed forests and never returned. As their absence turned from days to weeks, the clan threatened to fall apart with no direct leadship. Moonstone had never wished to lead, but she was the only one every dragon in the clan would consider having any sort of authority to lead. She knew her duty to her clan was greater than her personal desires and agreed to lead them until another was fit to take her place. Moonstone found her replacement in Irkalla, a fierce daughter of the clan's fighter and lore-keeper. Irkalla was much less diplomatic than Moonstone would have preferred, but she knew well the dangers of the Tangled Woods and that a strong message of power would go much further to defend the clan than would attempts for peace. Since retiring from leadership, Moonstone has focused on mothering her own clutches. She has many children all across Sorneith, and keeps in touch as she can. She knows that it is best to have eyes and ears in other domains, as well as potential allies in leaders who have gained her well-tutored children. Moonstone may no longer be the clan leader, but it can never be said she does not still work for the clan's continued survival and growth. |
