August is a vagabond who is loyal to noone. He is talented with a sword, and offers his blade to any dragon with the treasure to hire him, but has a special passion for exacting revenge by request.

He is charming and persuasive, often enchanting male and female dragons alike with his smooth wits. This however comes at the price of being hard to forget; and his constant traveling means August frequently finds himself having to evade scorned lovers when he visits old haunts.

August has a reputation for only being wounded in a single swordfight, and bears a souvenir in the form of a large scar that reaches across his right eye. He refuses to discuss the battle that earned him his scar, and only his rattlesnake friend, Sassafras, knows its origin.

Sassafras can often be found coiled around his hat, as she enjoys the view while he is flying, and she never misses an opportunity to whisper words of sarcasm in his ear when his attempts at charming pretty dragons go awry. He in turn ensures she has a steady supply of roan mice.
