"Help... Please..." Sadiya was still. Her wing throbbed in pain. Her stomach growled, reminding her of her unbearable hunger but her inability to move. Sometimes, she'd hear voices. Voices from the animals. They'd comfort her, and stay by her side. How could she have messed up so badly? Days ago, she was flying around Sornieth, enjoying her usual routine as a traveler. Or was it weeks? Months? She lost track of time - everything here seemed distorted. That day, that misty day, she wasn't looking ahead like she was supposed to. The pain still was there - the shock after colliding into the darned cliff still echoed in her bones. Unconsciously, she already gave up. The sound of wind chimes played in her head. She started tearing up, though she didn't know at the time. Is this it? Will I finally be released from my suffering? The chimes got louder, and louder, and finally to the point when all her pain numbed. She peacefully closed her eyes. Sadiya was suddenly woken up by a voice. Although unfamiliar to her, it soothed her nerves. "Are you awake?" "I-is... Is this the afterlife?" She weakly asked. "No, no. This is the Palace of Wind Chimes. One of us found you. You were on the brink of death." "Who are you?" "My name is Gorudoresu." She replied. "You're lucky to be alive. Now, as our rules state..." The brown skydancer flipped through the pages of a thick book. "Since you're here, you have to stay with us for the rest of your life! Dragons aren't supposed to know about this place after all." She winked. "Wha- but.." Sadiya protested. "I have places to go... And people to meet..." "You can still travel outside, you just have to live with us. So don't worry about a thing!" Gorudoresu chirped. "Afterall, it's safer here." Sadiya pondered for a moment. "I-I... I'll stay." After Sadiya recovered, she tried various jobs - since she can't lie still and do nothing. Although her wing recovered, she would prefer to never fly again. She had a newfound love for animals, talking to them as if she could read their minds. She learned how to tame them, and eventually, she could tame familiars as well. An imperial who used to be confident and charismatic turned into a nervous, and shy dragon - but Sadiya herself doesn't think it was bad. She found a clan. A family. | . |
