Tethys the nurse; Mother of rain-clouds.
The star-crossed lovers of the Tsunami Flats. Bound together as hatchlings in neighboring tidal pools, Tethys and Oceanus had made a home in one another. It was on a particularly stormy night when stray winds from the Windsinger's western shore blasted over the Sea of a Thousand Currents. The waves turned violent and aggressive, crashing down on the coast of the Flats. The tidal pool which Tethys lived in offered little protection from the tempest and had submerged her home completely in the flooding. Unable to swim against such cruel currents, Tethys was thrown into the sea. She found her way back to her sodden home after the worst of the storm passed overhead, but Oceanus had already abandoned the coast. Ever since then, she has been wandering the Sea of a Thousand Currents in search of her love. It is said that the tempest follows Tethys wherever she goes, forever keeping her apart from Oceanus. It cries and crashes in her wake. |
