Vega was yet another of my self-gened red, white and blue projects and she was supposed to be a reverse of Diablo.

While one of my absolutely favourite things about her is her wonderfully named parents, the most interesting thing I find is that her primary is not actually blue - it's twilight which is purple!

Now while you could argue that Twilight is blue-ish with some genes, especially crystal, the fact that she has a purple range primary is actually due to the fact that I was playing Flight Rising on my laptop at this time.

Most low-range laptops and even some mobile phones do not correctly display the full range of colours and all their hues. For example, I never saw the pastel pink and purple gradients in pearl shimmer as pearl shimmer always showed up as blueish white. I also never saw the purple in storm shimmer - it just looked entirely blue.

When I bought Vega she would have looked something like this:



If you are on a newer device (which I'm assuming you are as most devices are much more up to date years on) you can quite clearly see the purple gradient in twilight iridescent, particularly on the leg and tail of the hatchling. It is so subtle you can also trick your eyes into making it disappear into the same blue as the head. To me on my laptop, this all just showed as the same shade of blue and twilight crystal to me - while still blue now - looked more akin to a dark storm crystal.

Vega and Larka are the reason I moved from playing on a very cheap crappy laptop to my gaming PC. Mobiles seem to be mostly up to date now (you can see all the pinks and purples in pearl shimmer) but I have observed them missing some of the more subtle gradients and some stains do not show as brightly depending on the colour.

Example:

- The image is a picture taken with a mobile device of the PC
- The top coatl is a screenshot from mobile where the scry shows as an orangey brown red on the FR app and discord
- On PC it shows the full gradient, which is a pinkish-red to orange tipped gradient.

Fun fact: pink-red is a colour that people cannot agree on whether it is pink or red! In a study on colours, the results were 50/50 on whether it was categorized as red or pink.



While the lens, glare from the screen and the fact that the mobile is struggling with the colours have exaggerated the difference between the visuals a little, it does obviously highlight that there is a clear difference in the colours that are displaying. On my own mobile the scry appeared as the top coatl, but the camera lens from the same mobile could also pick up and display the difference. Go figure.
