Biography
Rot wrought havoc, warranting robotic reconstruction. Ripples of watts radiate over resplendent aquas and regal automation.
A swept away jewel, brimming with energy and power. Washed up in a land of illness and struggle, left glinting in the sun to dry. Brought in before the vultures did their work; a nice catch for the board. Kept as a fanciful trophy, looked at like a painting and treated like a coat rack, or a mannequin.
What got to them, though, was that they couldn't tell if their captors were just that cruel, or if no one had realized they were conscious. They certainly all spoke like they weren't in the room.
They escaped when one of the wards was "compromised," an emergency that drew even the executives out of their offices and left them unsupervised. Their fellow escapee made for unusual company, but after months of objectification and isolation, they weren't feeling particularly choosy when it came to expressions of genuine kindness.
Now, they live as a nomad in the Abiding Boneyard, hopeful the environment will discourage those who hope to recoup their wind-up corpse. Without regular maintenance, their mechanics hurt where they were installed poorly, but otherwise they're glad for the assistance; moving isn't as easy as it was before the rigor mortis and salt water.
