Wendigo ; the devourer
"Sometimes... You can't trust the picture of innocence, and a cold heart. This dragon has long been something other than just a dragon. Ice makes up his organs, his very soul is brittle and spiderwebbed with fissures. He should be turned away if he ever comes to your clan. Hospitality be damned, this dragon could very easily end your clan as you know it. Blood on the ice, staining the pristine white snow a horrible red. His claws are sharp, and his mind is thin and dangerous as a knife. Eyes glazed over but still seeing so much around him. Once, this beast was a dragon. Once, this beast had a family. Friends and family, too. Then... He wandered into places no dragon should go. Something found him in this place. A thing that was old, so old, and near forgotten. This thing infected this little dragon, twisting him so far from his once-normal shape. Antlers sprouting from his skull and claws lengthening painfully. Tearing skin, only to have the blood seeping from his wounds freeze over. Eyes sinking back into his skull, wasting away seemingly. So now he wanders, seeking food because he is so hungry. But... His hunger is no longer for foods that are natural to a dragon. Not prey-beasts, but other dragons. So do not trust that ever-small scratching noise at the walls of your den. Never stare out into the blizzard, and do not focus on those small whispers. They will draw you out to the ice, and to the maw of this beast. Staring into the snow, sometimes you will see these glowing eyes staring right back at you. The hunger in these eyes is chilling. Turn away then, go back to your nest. Bundle up and resist the calls to go out into the snow. Resist the phantom cries of those you think are a loved one in danger. They are a mimic by a beast that cares not for ties to things you love. It just thinks of warm flesh in its mouth and a full belly. Never will it be sated, though, no matter how much it consumes. It is damned to be ever-hungry, ever searching for meat. Always wandering, always waiting, always watching. Seeking the dragon stuck out in its storms. Seeking the fool that goes out in the blizzards for the thrill. A thrill is what they will find, perhaps, but that will end in a grisly demise. So... Again, never trust the ice. Its beauty and darkness will lie so sweetly to you. Do not seek things meant to be long forgotten. " | ________________ |
