Biography

One man's trash is another man's treasure.

At an incredibly young age, Xirtam was sold by their original home to a clan in the Shifting Expanse, and then kidnapped from that clan by a band of Tengu raiders. Though they remember none of this, their Tengu family recounted numerous times the story of the dragon's cruelty in selling them like an object, and the clan's intentions to send them to fight under one of their gods. Despite these horror stories, Xirtam was always fascinated by dragonkind, and the things they could build. They were always a little too eager during the raider's excursions to the Lightning Scrapyards, and when they made their escape to go live among their kind, it surprised no one.

Now this dragon makes their home at the very bottom of the Sanctuary, in the junkyard, where trash chutes deposit all the clan's waste until it can be delivered to either a recycling center in the Shifting Expanse, a composting center in the Viridian Labyrinth, or donated as fuel to the Great Furnace.
Xirtam sorts everything that falls into their home, leaving neat piles that once befuddled the Sanctuary's other residents, and they make their living selling items and inventions they've crafted from the repurposed garbage.
When Kite first learned of their presence in the junkyard, she temporarily banished them from the place. After a week's complaints about the smell of the unmanaged dump and multiple reports of garbage falling from the floating island to the unsuspecting lands below, Kite invited them back, giving them the official position of junkyard manager. She also offered them a real cave to live in, instead of making a new house every month, but Xirtam declined the offer, actually preferring to build and rebuild their own shack from the growing clan's unneeded building materials.
Xirtam's most popular repurposed items are, by a landslide, their candles. With wicks of floss from discarded embroideries and wax from the bottoms of old candle jars, Xirtam sells crates and crates full of candles every month alongside their other items, and is the clan's most reliable chandler.

Their pet peeve is when a dragon sees an item they discarded now cleaned and useful once more, and tries to claim ownership of it without paying. Xirtam hates when dragons dispose of items that are still perfectly serviceable, and after thoroughly chewing out a few would-be customers, they've gained themself a reputation as someone who doesn't abide waste. Now, when someone wants back an item they discarded, they quietly pay for it, and are careful not to throw it away again.
