Valc sniffed the dry, dusty ground. Something's scent still
lingered here. He sniffed again. It was warm-blooded, a fast heart rate, and, he inhaled, had fur? Yes, that was the last hint in the scent, fur. He raised his head and scanned the canyon's floor. Valc snorted, the water droplets in his breath froze as they left his snout. His white eyes focused on the accidental snow cloud in front of him. He smirked, he hadn't seen snow since he left the Icefields. However, he still witnessed storms that could rival the blizzards that whipped up in The Fortress of Ends. In his lair carved into the top of the Carrion Canyon, he would watch the lightning pour into the farms in awe. Lightning knew how to throw a storm, and Valc could not live without storms.
His unexpected display of magic had distracted him. He
got back to the hunt. He crept forward, following the scent. His claws shifted around bones, some more intact than others, as he searched for living meat. His trail of smells shifted, the creature's heart rate was increasing. It knew it was being hunted. Good. A smile crawled across Valc's face. There! A flash, mostly brown with a bit of white and green. He stared at the skull of a long dead creature, or more specifically the antlers that didn't belong to it. "Last time I checked Rocs do not have tiny antlers, Athu." A Rasa hopped up onto the skull it was hiding behind. "Come on, Hide-and-Hunt is over, Vorago asked for these materials hours ago. I'm not sure what she's going to do with these things," he jingled the bag hanging from his belt, "but if we don't return soon, I'm sure she's going to use it on us." Athu trotted down the beak of the roc skull. Valc lowered down, allowing the rasa to hop onto his back. When Athu was in place, (and hanging on for dear life) Valc launched himself into the sky. |
