The clan's progenitor and matriarch. Heliotrope is a fierce warrior and a devout follower of the Shadowbinder—she requires all who join the clan to be similarly devoted. Dragons from foreign flights are not turned away out of hand, but they are required to renounce their former deities before they are permitted to join; even then, they must prove their love for the Shadowbinder to Lio before she will fully trust them.
She is a warrior first and foremost, and while she has mostly retired from training soldiers for the Shadowbinder, she still occasionally ventures out into the wilds to hunt or fight. She is fiercely protective of her clan, and, ever since a near-death experience brought her to the feet of the Shadowbinder, an incredibly devout follower.
