Onyx is a true child of the Mather. She considers herself as forged as a sword when it comes to the flame. Her life, her everything is to the flame of the Mather. In jest, she oftens refers to herself as a moth, so prepared she is to give her life to her Mather. The only thing Onyx is more readily prepared to give is the lives of others.

Onyx is often found sheltered in the deepest depths of the winding volcanic caverns that make up the Hearth. In the very base of the Hearth rests what is referred to the 'onyx heart'. Here, Onyx takes the travellers taking refuge in the Hearth, after administering sedative via her cane. Once unconscious, Onyx submits prayers; ultimately exalting the life to her Mather. The rest of her days are spent communing with guests outside of her chambers. She often teaches them self-defense skills to enrich their stay.

____ Onyx was born into this world by Aldwyn, her father, a Ridgeback named Manetho. Her mother, a Coatl, was unfaithful in her union to Dwight, her former mate. Aldwyn attempted to pass off her clutch of eggs with Manetho as her mate’s. A fool could easily tell upon the clutch of three eggs’ hatching, that Dwight had been blatantly lied to by one he had thought he could trust with his life, as she had twisted a knife into his back. Upon the three eggs’ shells breaking loose, three sisters emerged from the debris. Fallen, Rose Quartz and herself, Onyx. As Manetho had been unaware of Aldwyn’s fidelity, he swiftly left the home of his temporary mate, passing onto greener pastures. Aldwyn, being a flighty and impulsive creature, left her daughters alone within the confines of their homeland among the other dragons, caring little to none about their lives and whereabouts. Leaving them to the mercy and kindness of her fellows.

Left without a parent or guardian that cared for the three, Fallen and Rose Quartz left, like their father had, for greener pastures. Onyx remained in her home, a barren place of fire and ash, feeling a call to remain in her birthplace, and a stubborn yet resourceful individual, able to at least attempt to make the best of what she possessed. In order to defend herself, being alone, discarded and unwanted, she began to teach herself the art of self-defence and combat. With outside influence from those passed through her home, seeking temporary refuge from the elements and weather, she shaped into quite the fine warrior, more than capable of taking down opponents much larger than she. Toppling them and bringing them to their knees. The movements of her talons, limbs, head and tail all aiding her in her task of victory over opponents.

Alongside her training from outsiders, Onyx picked up a lot of old tales and legends, passed form generation to generation particularly those of the deities, among them her own, the Flamecaller. Onyx one day picked up a younger dragon, Demise, a fellow Ridgeback, one of few in her homeland. Passing the teachings she received of combat and self-defence onto him. Being a fast learner, and possessing the build of a warrior, he quickly learned, although neglected the learning of her tales and legends, deeming them stupid and unnecessary. Despite this shortcoming, they quickly banded together in the goal of training those who passed through their home basic self-defence and combat skills for the time they may crucially need it. All the while Onyx preached the word of her Mather, few listened, not entirely helped by Demise’s comments on the subject of her devotion, but those who did, some moved on and were never heard from again, like so many others in her life, others went to go serve beneath the Flamecaller, adopting her as their deity. Working for her underneath her careful orange pair of eyes she bestowed upon her children.

____Currently, within her home, Onyx resides as the priestess of our Mather, the Flamecaller. She frequently preaches to those she, alongside Demise, gives basic self-defence and combat training, telling them all she knows of her deity of flames and ash. Onyx fills her cavern within the cliff face of her home with many tomes, scrolls, forged weapons and intricately crafted items honouring the Flamecaller. She generally prefers feather and ornate garments when preaching her faith. As for when locked in combat, the more lightweight and less bulk an article has, the better. Onyx has quite the liking for lava baths, as she normally accumulates a large amount of muck and dirt on claws, limbs and wings when trudging through the sodden terrain of the Mire. As of now, she has come to terms with her past and present, and enjoys her time in preaching to the masses residing in her home, though, she does tend to avoid her mother whenever possible.
