Biography

Finally, I was able to make it into the brewing guild in my clan, a true disciple in the art that interested me so much. It meant I could no longer storm chase with my friend Elvet as much as I used to, but I knew this would be the case, and with him finding a mate only a few days ago I knew our trips would become scarce. I was honestly fine with it, I grew bored of flying through storms, they were too similar, too mundane. Smelting down life into it's purest form to create that which never existed naturally in the first place was where I found my joy. Mates were beneath me, they take up so much time and energy, the only thing they would be good for is for a hatchling, but they would take even more time away from me. No, all I need is my potion making. That's all I need.

That fool Elvet, he continues to bother me about chasing one more extreme storm, why bother, it wouldn't be any different than every other time we took to the skies, but he persisted. I left it open, just to get him off my back so I could continue making a new potion I was trying to invent. It prolonged ones life, a truly marvelous feat, I couldn't understand why the elders forbid such a potion, it was so easy to make and I could in theory become immortal. A few familiars thrown in the pot alive, like brewers didn't do that all the time anyway, and they were easy to trick into trusting me, a few pieces of food and a few nice words and they always come when I call. Some rare high grade materials, which I could by with a measly amount of treasure from my overflowing hoard. But the last ingredient was the hard one to get. The heart of a dragon, it had to be fresh and it needed to be... someone I was close to. Ah, so that is why it's forbidden, but no cost is too high for the continuation of brewing, the world will thank me when they see the true benefits this potion will bring for us! So, I mated and produced four horrible little monsters, but that was fine, within the next few months they were out of my life once more. Failure, not one successfully created my potion, pathetic, and to make matters worse, my mate left me when I told her the hatchlings had died in an accident while I as showing them my studies. She called me insane, that my work was more important than our family, that I should have known better than to take newborns to such a dangerous place. Idiotic female, her leaving was a set back, but just as fate would have it an old friend came by.

Elvet went on and on about some crazy storm that was brewing and said maybe this venture would brighten my spirits after the "death" of my offspring. I smiled like I used to around him and agreed, this would brighten my mood. If a newborns heart was too weak to make the potion, maybe, an adult dragons whose life has been so wonderful and full of emotion would be enough. We agreed to meet up that night for one more old fashioned chase. Indeed, it would be the last one. I grabbed a long knife and coated it in some paralysis poison I had stowed away from my last attempts, it would keep him from fighting back once I struck. I met up with him at the correct time, and we set off. He was correct, this storm was indeed intense, lighting flashed every second and the wind was almost too much, I had trouble keeping up. I just had to stab him and grab him on the way down and I could remove his heart before we hit the oceans surface. He was below me, now was the time, in one swoop I plunged my knife deep into his back, near the spine for a quick acting dose. He slid off the knife and began to plummet. I went to follow, to claim my prize, but a random gust of wind slammed into me, sending me falling and trying to right myself. Elvet was looking at me, I could see his eyes full of concern. I must have looked the same, my prize was falling away from me. I righted myself and dove, faster than I ever have, but it was too late, he hit the water and by the time I breached the surface, I couldn't see him anymore. It hurt, to have killed my friend without making use of him. I would have to try again... I returned to my clan, defeated, his mate worriedly came to me asking where he was, many clan members gathered at the commotion when I told her he was struck down, luckily a mail carrier confirmed the severity of the storm. They bought it instantly, but now too many had died here, I knew my brew master was getting suspicious. I took my research, and left.

I found solace in the wind clan for years, I built new friendships for the day when they could be of use. But one thing I never expected. Was for Elvet to appear alive one day in front of the clans leader. How was that possible, apparently because of some old ceramic pot and a fish, preposterous, I would find out the secrets this "pot" held. Fate must be smiling on me, another chance, I just had to play my cards right and not slip up this time.
