Sedum

Sedum is a magical savant. He focuses on his craft to the exclusion of all else-- all, that is, except himself. Vanity is the primary drive and motivator in Sedum's life. His most prevalent magical development was pioneered as a direct result of his vanity: as a combat healer, Sedum has a method of reknitting wounds specifically to prevent scarring. Unlike classical combat healing, which simply temporarily stops blood flow and restores movement until after the battle when healing can proceed naturally, Sedum's method actually heals wounds completely. As such, it has a much greater cost: rather than drawing from Sedum's mana or element, it consumes nearby life as fuel. Naturally, this form lends itself perfectly to combat use; kill your enemy, be revitalized. Straightforward, easy. Available as a drastic power boost to arts other than healing. However, the effortless power these sacrifices grant Sedum has completely eliminated any sense of mercy or moderation. After slaughtering a number of surrendered beast tribesmen and earning the ire of their leaders, Shirah forbade Sedum from battle. But oh, that would not do. Sedum had flowers to keep alive. And perfect feathers to maintain. And eternal youth to keep. Forbidden from leaving the Natorei lair complex, Sedum readily agreed to cooperate with Capella and aid in her search if it meant she would provide lives for him. Capella does not fully approve of Sedum's style-- she only allows him to take power from animals and plants for her projects, despite his insistence that beastmen are more effective, and dragons substantially so-- because it still leads something to death. But with her limited resources, she takes any help she can get, and Sedum has no complaints about the seedy practices involved. No one has yet realized that only most of the Exalted actually reach the Windsinger. Art: Bust Lineart by Ursus #44850 |
