As the firstborn child of the clan's two founders, Palescale often acts as a sort of deputy. He is a naturally gifted mage, focusing on raw power rather than the utility and technique favored by his father. He is quiet, and places a lot of value in a promise or an oath. For the most part, Palescale concerns himself with the logistical aspects of Moonwake - ensuring that gathering spots are not over-harvested, managing supplies and finances, and of course, keeping an eye on the health and wellbeing of clan residents.

Palescale's skin tends to change color akin to a chameleon's scales. This change is most common on his wings, but will occasionally spread to other parts of his body. Due to Palescale's abilities as a mage of Water, the image will occasionally have prophetic significance. For example, shortly before the clan moved to the Starwood Strand, Palescale's wings shifted to depict a stained-glass rendering of The Arcanist. Often, soon before new dragons join the clan, Palescale's wings will depict an image of them.
