Biography
╭━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╮
‹━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━«
They were born into something larger, a movement, a change that they had no idea of. They were three, then suddenly only two. Their sister gone, evil tongues talking about murder and kidnapping, but no one dared to step forwards and tell the truth. Neither Soh nor Magnus knew about those rumors, they didn’t even knew their missing sister. All that they knew was, that what their parents decide to share with them. All they knew was that magic was an evil, vile thing. Magnus never understood the why, even as a small boy he would ask his father, beg him to tell him about the old regime, the kingdom, the rebellion, everything. He wanted to know everything, was never satisfied with the answers usually given to young children. The fact that Magnus and Soh were the only children around, only caused for them to grow closer together, to stick up for each other. They weren’t just siblings, they were best friends, they told each other every little secret. The lessons taught to them became heavier with anti-magic propaganda and Magnus’ questions turned from every topic towards magic alone. He angered many of the older rebellion members when he wanted to know why they deemed magic as something evil, he could not believe it, not see it. Maybe this curiosity was the first sign of what was to come, maybe it was a cruel twist of fate, whatever it was, it doomed Magnus. It happened at night. He was sleeping peacefully one moment, only to be startled awake the next as his skin, his flesh, his nerves burned, hurt, as energy crackled under it, he nearly screamed for his parents as light bloomed from his claws, magic pouring out of him like blood out of a mortal wound. And all he could do was watch, in awe, with a hint of fear. But then Magnus started to think, hard, before deciding to keep the magic a secret, he thought he knew what he had to do to prove that magic was not evil. Keeping this secret from Soh was hard for Magnus, he loved her very much, she was his sister and best friend after all. Additionally, Magnus had to be extra careful with his nightly attempts to control his magic, for an old friend of his father returned, was always around him. Bran was a guardian, said and swore that Magnus was his charge. But none of that could stop the avalanche that was fate by now. The boy trained hard, at day he learned what the rebellion wanted him to know, at night he poured all his attention over the books about magic he had found. It took forever to learn control on his own, but he mastered it, excited and happy about his achievement, Magnus decided that the time to show it to his father had come. He chose an evening when the leaders of the rebellion had an important meeting, waited until all but his father had left the room, then asked Crovil for a moment of his time. Magnus said with his widest, happiest smile, that he had to show Crovil something. And that he did, magic bloomed from his claws, lights and shapes, colors enlightened the room in a spectacular, but harmless way. Yet, as Magnus finished and turned towards his father, all he saw was terror on his father’s face. No pride, no interest. Terror, soon replaced by rage. This was the first of many times that Crovil would beat him within an inch of his life, Magnus always begged his father to listen, always reassured him that he was good, that magic was not an evil thing, smiled gently to take away his father’s fear. It never worked. He always was dragged back into his cell or worse, caught off guard by his mother. While Magnus knew that his father loved him, he also knew that his mother was rotten to the core by hatred and jealousy, there was no chance to ever change her, so he just accepted what she did to him, leaving him in the woods, badly wounded. Magnus could have run away, easily so, but he refused to give up, he had the unshakable hope in his father, that he would understand one day. Even when Soh came to him, crying and with bags packed, Magnus just smiled at her, said her that she shouldn’t cry, that he was alright. All Magnus wanted was for his father to listen, that was all that he wanted. And while Magnus waited for his chance, he honed his magic, his skills to protect and save lives of those that fought for the rebellion and in the darkness of his cell, Magnus started to grow magical flowers, something small, sweet to take away the pain and misery, because he knew, one day his chance would come. |
