Born to a rough-and-tumble family of fighters, Ahi cut his teeth chewing rocks and wrestling with his siblings, each attempting to prove their worth to their parents. While playing near a deep chasm, the then-flightless hatchling took a spill and was lost over the edge. Suspected dead by his family, he was left to his own devices at the bottom of the long drop, injured and broken from the landing he had attempted with his fledgling wings.

Mistaking him for a rare item, Shale brought him back to Parhelion's clan and helped to nurse him back to health under Lyria's watchful eyes. The warrior spirit never left the combat-addicted Coatl, however, and Ahi threw himself into the Coliseum as soon as he was well enough. He finished out the days of his youth in the battlefields and grew into a fine warrior...with a cheating streak as wide as the Sea of One Thousand Currents. Believing that life had attempted to cheat him of living when he had fallen into the chasm, Ahi adopted a cheat-to-win policy as a sort of karmic backlash to the forces of fate.

He has been a formidable opponent ever since, using whatever dirty tactics necessary to win and scrape together a fine gathering of treasure for himself. Were he not so keen to cheat, he might make a good and honorable fighter, but misbehaving pays out better.
