When Cindermaw first came upon the spot she would shape and meld into a great lair for her clan, it was a small oasis in an otherwise inhospitable landscape. She worked hard to secure the spot, fighting tooth and claw to keep would-be threats and thieves from trying to lay claim to her hard earned territory. This was her home now, and she would rather lay down her life than surrender it to someone else.

The guardian was not stupid enough to think she would be able to protect her lair on her own, however, and when a tiny fae dragon by the name of Eilir timidly asked to join in her endeavour, she accepted. Hesitant at first, due to his diminutive size, the matriarch of the now two-dragon strong Hearthglow clan was soon pleased to have her doubts proven wrong. Eilir was a great help, skilled with magic and full of passion, and it didn't take long for other dragons to join the unconventional duo.

One of these many dragons was Flashfire. A brazen pearlcatcher who had taken a liking to Cindermaw, challenged her to a duel for the right to become her mate, and lost spectacularly to the female guardian. Something about him seemed to have won her over, though, and she accepted him as her consort despite his loss.

With the clan now steadily growing and making a name for itself, it soon became painfully obvious they would need more resources if they were to continue thriving despite their increasing numbers. That's when the matriarch reached out to clan Leystrider in the Sunbeam Ruins. Surprisingly enough, the matriarch, Idun, agreed to an alliance based on trade, and the two clans soon became fast friends.

Recently, a nocturn arrived to the clan's territory and challenged first Flashfire, and then Cindermaw herself to a duel, both of which he won, earning himself the title of consort, and consequently, a place at the matriarch's side. She, however, has insisted on keeping Flashfire close, the pearlcatcher grudgingly accepting his new place as 'second mate'.

Cindermaw is a proud dragon, full of confidence and a hunger to prove herself. She holds herself to an extremely high standard, and expects others to do the same, always striving for the top.

She's an adept fighter who doesn't hesitate to strike where it hurts the most, though the clan's guard seem to want her to stay out of confrontations. The guardian won't hear of this, but allows them to handle less important skirmishes on their own. A matriarch has many duties to attend to, after all.

As with everyone else, she expects only the best from her offspring, even more so than other clan-members at times. That said, she is not a bad mother by any means. She cares deeply for her children and only wants the very best for them, pushing them towards their full potential with a firm hand. They are her pride and joy, and loves to brag about them to anyone who will listen.
