Sarra has an endearing, naive outlook on life. She is (probably) the most powerful mage in the clan, but she has resisted learning to use her powers. She is often found wandering among the brambles and crags of the Clan's territory, humming to herself. She always has at least one shadow following her, most commonly her cousin, the warrior Ravenna.

Sarra was the result of a long planned lineage that was tended by the seers and oracles. Unfortunately, she was not born with the amplified magical energies she was foretold to have. She was sent to the alchemists as a hatchling to be instilled with runic magic before she had finished growing. This plan was risky, but had the potential to amplify her powers substantially.

Those born with the runes running through their veins have a natural, inborn ability to control them. The amplification melds completely with the growing child's energy matrix in the egg. Family members provide additional ability to control and understand the family legacies. However, an adult can choose to be imbued with runic magic. This is not a change made lightly, and only those with naturally excellent control are selected. Through generations of study the scholars and alchemists have figured out how to accurately predict for which adults the transition will be too dangerous. The downside of waiting, however, is that the amplification is never as potent. For children the results are the most risky yet have the most potential. None of the necessary pieces for control (innate magic, mind, and body) have fully developed. Many hatchlings do not survive the process, but those that do are likely to be exceptionally powerful - if they can control their magic.
