The feathered wooden guardian lounges across pillows and blankets, his arms stretched far in front of him. He looks nearly gaudy in his decoration, as does his cave with its crystal statues and chests bursting with objects of any value. Papers and parchments, notebooks and scrapbooks lie scattered around him. He speaks:

"Well! hello! What a wonder you've come here." There's a smile in his words. "Apologies for the mess. It's a real work in progress.

"I collect stories and information about my clan. I hope to create a useful catalog of past, present, and future. We're not a tightly knit bunch, so it's important to have some things all in one place. It's my duty and my love.

"Look, touch, and smell all you like--although, there's not much here yet."

He lowers his head to the floor between his arms and lets a long, slow sigh through his nostrils.
