MIDWIFE AND NANNY "A MOTHERLY DRAGON WITH A VIOLENT PAST"
Origins - When Ophelia was young, a violent disease ravaged her clan, mutating her Opal genes into a crystallized rash across her entire body. As she grew older, the scars stayed, and by the time she was a teenager, she had been drafted to serve in her clan's army. A loyal little germ, she fought bravely and violently, the blood and bodies piling up around her as her kill count grew. She was powerful and feared, and her magic was as strong as her physical strength.
But all that changed, one fateful day, when she watched her best friend die in front of her, brutally murdered by an enemy soldier. Suddenly, she realized the fragility of life, and the weight of her many kills was heavy upon her soul. What lives had they lead, that she had destroyed? What families had she ripped apart, just to further her clan's own goals? Feeling lost, she asked her superiors if she could withdraw from the army, and they reluctantly agreed to let her go. She turned her attention to the act of creating life, rather than destroying it, but it was hard to find refuge in a Nature clan, so she instead took up the job as a nanny in an Arcane clan- The Clan of Magic Roses. Archad took her in, seeing that she was troubled, and let her do the job she desired. Over time, Ophelia has softened from her battle-worn days, developing a fondness for all things delicate, especially the young hatchlings she helps hatch and take care of. Personality - Ophelia is quite motherly and soft-spoken, though her voice is a bit raspy, which leads back to an age-old injury. She is in constant pain, as the crystals on her skin dig into her flesh, but she has felt worse, and it no longer bothers her. Most of the time, she is pleasant- A little bit irritable, but mostly nice, with no patience for stupid questions. She always takes good care of the hatchlings, and is patient with their worrying mothers, but if a hatchling were ever to misbehave, they would see the violence rage in her blood-red eyes, and immediately do as they were told. Relationships - Ophelia gets along well with most of the older females in the clan, and acts as a friend to them, but cannot stand teenagers, and most males are tiresome to her. She especially cannot stand Yumino, who pesters her to tell him stories about life in her Plague clan, bringing up uncomfortable memories that make her respond to him angrily. She is not currently looking for a mate. Ophelia also gets along well with most of the hatchlings she takes care of, as they are scared of her. Clan Role - As a midwife, Ophelia helps first-time mothers lay their eggs and also is a chief manager of the Synthetic Sounds Hatchery. As a nanny, Ophelia helps take care of young hatchlings who do not have their mothers, whether they be in a different clan, or if the mothers have chosen to remain anonymous. As such, Ophelia is also sworn to secrecy if a mother would rather not have it be known that a hatchling is hers. She does her job well, an she does it with pride, as it is all she could ever have asked for. Magic - Ophelia has access to powerful, terrifying Plague magic, and could probably wipe out the whole clan if she so chose. Of course, she never uses it, for fear of hurting someone, and instead has turned to more helpful, soothing, healing versions of Arcane, Nature, and Light magic. |
