B I O G R A P H Y

"I dare you..." a fluffy white tundra proclaimed loudly. "To go into... that cave!"

A sky blue skydancer shrunk back. "That's where the enchantress lives!" he whispered loudly.

The dark brown ridgeback frowned. "What enchantress?"

"You don't know?" a bright red mirror asked enthusiastically. "The enchantress! No one comes out of her lair alive."

"No one comes out of her lair, period!" the tundra exclaimed. "I dare you to go inside."

"And not come out?" The ridgeback frowned. "Isn't that dangerous."

"No it's not!" the tundra hastily assured. "Come on, try it!"

"You aren't scared, are you?" the mirror goaded.

The ridgeback straightened her back and fluffed her wings. "Of course not!" she announced. "Watch me!"The cave was cold. Dark. Damp. The ridgeback shuffled forward slowly, her wings pressed tightly to her side. Water dripped from the ceiling and she flinched. A drop fell on her nose and she licked it off quickly. Her nose wrinkled. The water tasted foul. Her eyes started drooping and too late- she was out.

When her eyes opened again she was in a large room lavishly decorated with velvet rugs and gold furniture. Curled on top of a plush sofa was a pure white pearlcatcher, her pearl suspended high above her head.

The ridgeback shrunk back and tripped on her own tail. She fell down with a large crash, causing the dust on the ceiling to loosen and flutter down.

The pearlcatcher stretched lazily in her seat before opening her eyes. "Who is it?" she asked in a musical voice. "Who has come into my abode?"

The ridgeback waved her wings about awkwardly. "Hello?"

The pearlcatcher smiled before rolling to rest on her stomach. "Hello, little hatchling," she greeted. She smelled the air for a few moments before announcing, "Oh my! A sorceress we have here, don't we?"

_ENCHANTRESS_

____Everything comes with a price. The more you ask, the more you have to give. Those are the rules that every enchantress must follow, regardless of whether or not their clients want to do the same.

____Most of her orders come in the form of body reconfiguration. The changing of breeds, genes, or colors. With those, the price paid is minimal. Some orders are larger and more difficult. With those, the cost varies from request to request. It's with those orders that things get ugly.

____Some clients walk away blind, but beautiful. Other clients have lost their sense of smell, but are rewarded with eternal youth. Others still lose their sense of touch, in exchange for mountains of treasure and gems.

_SORCERESS_

____Some dragon die young. Some die tragically. Some die mysteriously.

____Aorceress's job is to communicate with the dead. Through the help of a friendly shade, she questions them about life and unfinished business. The price of being a sorceress, however, is the continual prescence of such a shade, evident by the grasping hands always around her. The shade around her is still young and hungry, and will grasp at whatever life force it comes across.
