━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

His life started off rather ordinary. He had two parents and a sister; nothing anyone would mark as particularly interesting or noteworthy. Well, apart from the fact that he lived in a prison, but that's not really very strange if your parents are Gaolers. His parents, Larsi and Siv, were responsible for a Shade-touched Ridgeback on the ninth floor of Chillerz Prison and Containment Facility(more info). They tried their best to teach Sel about the responsibilities of Gaolers and how he could use his size to his advantage, but he never really listened. He was far more interested in playing with his sister, Squall, than learning how to hold back a 10,000kg monstrosity(the majority of their inmates happen to be ginormous) who possess a strength that he would never come close to. Even if he had spent almost his entire life in Ice territory, he was still a Wind dragon and preferred taking the easy way out whenever he could, much to his parents' chagrin. Despite all that, his parents still pushed. The second he was old enough they were clamoring for him to get a job, so he and Squall got the nice and cushy job guarding a blind Mirror, 'affectionately' known as Ka-Slac(Southern Draconian for "slug in a coma"). Ka-Slac rarely ever moved, and never spoke; they barely even needed a guard at all, especially since the average guard was several times their size. Of course, being a Fae, Sel was still much smaller than even a Mirror, but he wasn't needed for anything physical. His only job was reinforcing the cell with magic every other day. Incredibly easy gig, and super hard to mess up. Too bad that Sel was an idiot.

On one beautiful summer evening, something happened that would change Sel's forever. Of course, he wasn't an oracle, so he was blissfully unaware as he absentmindedly put the least amount of effort possible into his job as usual. He and Squall spent most of their 8-hour shift chatting, playing, and other things that you would expect of the worst guards in the world. Their supervisor had long since gone to a bar. It's no wonder that Ka-Slac would find evading them such an easy task. At a half-past midnight, on the day in question, while his guards were happily napping through the remaining time of their shift, Ka-Slac stood up, and walked out of his cell as easily as if there were no door. This, of course, wouldn't have been possible if it had been reinforced earlier that day like it was supposed to have been. The convict crept quietly towards the door, carefully going around the guards. How unfortunate that Sel and Squall woke up just at that moment. Sel regained consciousness at the same moment his sister lost it forever, with a talon through her neck. He barely had time to think before the Mirror was upon him. Ka-Slac raised his claw for a killing blow, but it never landed. Sel had scrambled away and was now fleeing across the room as fast as his small wings could take him. He aimed a gust of wind to try and slow the Mirror, but all he succeeded in doing was flinging his sister's into the nearest wall. Ka-Slac was following close behind, Sel was nearly incinerated. The only reason he is alive today is because the new shift of guards happened to arrive at just that second. Ka-Slac immediately slithered into the shadows before they could notice him. Sel took this opportunity to flee. Of course, this gave the wrong idea to the other guards. An open cell door with no magical reinforcements, the body of a Keeper with Wind magic used against it, him running away. You really can't blame them for thinking what they did.

Usually, when accused of murder, it is generally a good idea at least to try and prove your innocence. Maybe make a statement, hire an investigator. Or at the very least say "I didn't do it!". He did none of those things. In his amazing genius he decided that the best course of action would be to run away as fast as possible. You know, like someone who's guilty. Though, apparently, he was running after Ka-Slac. But, of course, he told no one, so they all obviously thought he was the killer. If only he had been smart enough to explain, then maybe all the later tragedies could have been avoided. The dozens and dozens of tragedies. The hundreds of completely avoidable fires, deaths, dropped ice cream cones, escaped convicts, unfortunate apparel choices, and similar disasters. All so that he could follow a rampaging killer who he could do nothing to stop. Town after town of deserted caves and bloodstains(though there were, strangely, never any corpses). Despite traveling for weeks, constantly following (seemingly) close behind Ka-Slac, he could never seem to get closer, but never any farther either. He dashed from place to place, never seeing another dragon. This went on for nearly two years, and the only reason it didn’t continue for the rest of his life was pure luck.

The City of Music, of Life, of Peace. Of a very large amount of things that needn't be listed, for we haven't the time. With its brilliant colors, interesting architecture, and stunning landscapes, Numerous is an amazing place to go if you want to settle down somewhere peaceful, or meet someone interesting, or explore the wonders of Wind. Sel, of course, did none of those things. He chanced upon the city while trying to trace Ka-Slac through telepathy(a skill he definitely did not possess). His plan was to stay there a little while to gather his strength, then leave as soon as possible.
