I had a dream the other night
That shook me
To the core
And granted me
The deepest peace
And left me wanting more

I walked through
Blinding
Blistering snow
My heart beckoned
Towards a cave

Each dripping trail
Of perfect ice
Shimmered from within
And sang
In beauteous harmony
Like a merry clarion

This cavern gave shelter
From the storm
As if the storm had never been
And I felt safe
And warm
Against all odds
And yet pulled deeper still

Room on room
I visited
Each more dazzling than the last
Crystals of quartz
Laced with ice
Glistened with their own bright light
And my breath hung
In the air
Then turned
To snow

Then
At last
The denouement
The final cavern arched
Higher than I could imagine
And at the apex
An enormous hole
That opened towards the heavens

Gone was the storm
And in its place
A velvet black sky
Struck through with spills of starlight
Which seemed to echo
The twinkling glow
Of the crystals all around

I could have watched
This single show
A thousand hours or more
And never wished the dawn
To come
And wash it all away

But dawn did come
And I awoke
And my heart aches with longing

For how again
May I return
To this peaceful cavern
In the storm?

What venturing guide
Or jewelsmith mastering tiny boxes
Or poetic soul
Can return me to a place
So like this one
Of which I've dreamed?

I know not
But hope to find
Something like
This peaceful sanctuary
Once more

to spread all over
the winterlands.

She sees it all
and it clears her mind.
pure snow.
