Talk without care, and you'll find yourself being hastily hushed, with many staring at you as though your head's on backwards. Not long ago, Plunder and her pirates of the Pillager were such a topic. The utterance of her name could wash fear throughout a room like waves crashing on the shore. Many avoid speaking of her outright, for fear that invoking her name will bring back luck, or worse yet, that'll she'll be at your doorstep by nightfall.

These are not the only rumors and tall-tales of the captain of the Pillaging Pirates. Some will tell you that she ties survivors of raids beneath the Pillager's hull, so that they can see the surface as their lungs fill with water. Some say that she's raided so many vessels, her ship is weighed down by the treasure it hoards, it's deck but mere inches above sea level. Still others claim that these stories are actually two halves of a singular whole.

Recently, though, new rumors have started to spread: the Pillager and it's crew have not been seen or heard of in some time. It seems an impossible thought to think, as though the sea itself has gone quiet. Could they really be gone? Was the ship at last dragged under? Was the crew taken by the depths? Are they stranded on an island? No one is certain, and many hold their breath in uneasy anticipation of their return.

The truth of the matter, like with all rumors, is much simpler. On a night like any other night, Plunder and her mate, Pocket, set their eyes on a lone trade vessel, planning to take it for all it was worth. Unfortunately, whether it was bad luck or karmic justice, they and their crew finally met their match. The raid was a failure, and would see the pair of co-captains, their ship, and some of their crew captured.

While most of the crew was eventually let go, Pocket and Plunder have been indefinitely sentenced to.... community service. More specifically, they perform most (if not all) of the fishing duties for the clan. While they do find it a bit humiliating, it's certainly not all bad - fishing means they get to be by the sea. Plunder wouldn't admit it, but she's even come to like staying with the clan. Just don't tell Pocket.
