She grew up in a large family, with 8 other siblings, so naturally she was left to entertain herself a lot while her mother took care of the younger dragons and her father worked.

The day she first tasted candy is a day she will never forget. She had silently followed her father to work, and hid until he went out the back. As soon as he left, she jumped up and looked around her. The walls were lined with floor to ceiling shelves, all stocked full with bright, colourful candies. She stood, amazed at the shapes and how they seemed to call her. Pastille was shaken out of her daze by the sound of her father returning. Quickly and without even thinking, she grabbed a handful of candies and bolted outside.

Her father knew, of course, for a young dragon is not as sneaky, nor as quiet as they believe they are. And so when he grew too old to work any longer, he passed the shop down to Pastille. He taught her how to make the candies, how to entice the children to buy more, how to convince the adults it wasn't that bad for a child to have candy before bed, really.
