Biography

Uh-oh, looks like Cobra wandered a little too far from his home lair, #359553, and now he's off to see the world! If you ever feel the need to exalt, he'd really appreciate it if you could just return him to his home lair, or to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, here. This is not necessary, but he would be very grateful!

I was spent after crossing through the Windswept Plateau. Dragons had always thought that because I am a skydancer and that skydancers originated from that area that we were adept to dealing with windy travel. Tragically that is not true, especially since I grew up in the Southern Icefield and had only traveled for a short time. I had finally reached the Starfall Isles, after traveling most of the Windswept Plateau.
The moment I crossed into the area, a icy blue male pearlcatcher approached me, which was odd at the very least. He didn't really look like he had wanted to be out and had only done it because he was ordered to.
"Hey, traveler, follow me. Our prophet said you would be here." The pearlcatcher spat, turning his back to me and walking in which I supposed was the direction of his camp.
I didn't quite mind that I wasn't being paid much attention to by this dragon, I may as well have been asking it since most dragons didn't enjoy an extra dragon to take care of. We didn't speak the whole way to their camp (though it as more like a castle if you ask me), and when he did finally speak it was to introduce himself and the one he called a prophet.
"Traveler, my name is Glaucus, and this here is Athena." He said nodding to the female pearlcatcher. Unlike Glaucus who wore simple scouting attire, Athena wore very bright golden clothing, and I noted the long torn veil she wore as well as the golden pearl clasped between her talons. Glaucus seemed very prideful of Athena so I could only suppose she was somehow related to him as well.
I cleared my throat nervously before speaking up,"It's nice to meet you, my name is Cobra." I give Athena a small smile when I'm done speaking but she doesn't seem to pay notice.
Glaucus says gruffly,"You won't get anything from her, she's deaf."
My smile disappears and I look away,"I'm sorry..."
"Don't be chap, now get along into the Haven, there's a jeweler named Misu in the tenth room to the right who'll outfit you with some apparel and give you some information."
I nod and turn away, taking another glance at Athena which sets Glaucus into a growl, sending me scampering off and counting doors. Reaching the tenth one I peer in and see a grey imperial female with beautiful blue runes. She seems absorbed in her work so I clear my voice to catch her attention.
"Oh! Sorry about that, your name is Cobra right? Ok, Ok well let's get to work then!" Misu grins, cheerfully looking me over and turning to a closet filled to the brim with apparel.
"Now, now darling I have just the outfit for you! Also, feel free to ask any questions you would like." She pulls out a set of brown beaded birdskull coverings as well as a bright blue clutter of twigs and feathers.
As she gets to work on showing me how to put on each piece I ask some questions.
"Why am I getting apparel?"
"Honey! Nobody likes looking at a naked dragon. Tsk tsk, you need something to make the ladies fall at your feet! Well seriously though it's a tradition, we always give our travelers something to wear." I blush, looking down at my talons.
"Um... Where are all the hatchlings? There were quite a few grown dragons I noticed on my way here but I didn't see a single hatchling."
"The hatchlings are at the marketplace hon, we need an income somehow and those little ones are the easiest way to get it." I grimace at that, and look back up. How dreadful! The poor young getting taken away... Athena must be one of the only hatchlings to ever be kept in this terrible place. Misu seems to notice the look on my face and speaks again as she finishes off my apparel.
"No no! Not like that, we only sell them off young once their parents feel they're ready, don't worry now. Since we're done, I would like ti if you could make your way up to the guest rooms. Go up the stairs at the end of the hall and go to the first room on the left."
I only nod, still feeling a bit uneasy about the hatchling selling. How many hatchlings were sold to buy my new apparel?

I don't remember much about ths lair. Upon joining, a blizzard swept across the crags, preventing me from leaving. The cold was unbearable, chill seeping into my bones. My feathers did little to help. I found myself doing almost nothing, curling up by the fire and sleeping. It was during this time by the fire, reading and writing as I could, that i discovered a most curious creature- a little owl, buried deep in the mountain, surfacing only to fluff up and warm by the fire. We watched each other, and as time went by he grew comfortable with my presence. When the blizzard came to a slow end, I packed up my things to leave. As I went to exit, wishing the dragons farewell, the little owl hopped upon my shoulder and joined me on my travel.

#388559:
The harsh lands of Ice bit at my skin, and I slipped on a puddle hidden under the deep snow. The clothing given to me by my latest home helped little, being only of bones and feathers.
"I wish they had given me something a little warmer!" I muttered, my teeth chattering. "It's time to find somewhere warmer. I'm done with this frost." With that, I flapped my mighty wings once, and lifted off from the ground. Then, I turned north-northeast, and made way for the vast ocean, heading in the direction I was always told was the way the rest of the world was.

I landed on a bright, green, beautiful plateau, and took a deep breath of the fresh air.
"If this is what I've been missing all my life, then I've been missing everything." Taking a quick brake among a plentiful forest, I took off again, heading more or less north.

Many night later, I found myself on the break of a dead land. There where no plants, and all of the land was barrren. Remembering reading about this land in a book once, I grimaced.
"The Plague lands."
Over them I flew, coming close to many perilous deaths, but quite a few times I met some friendly lairs. Finally, when the wind had started to ice, I found myself at the end of the Plague lands, and the start of the Earth lands. It looked more or less different, but only by a few changes. For one, it seemed much more friendly.
I found a group of pillars, where I noticed another, beautiful, female Skydancer sitting on top. She noticed me, and called out, "Ahoy there, traveler! You look like you've been through a lot!" She landed in front of me, a wide smile upon her face. "And where are you from?"
"The Ice lands, er-"
"Rias is fine. And the Ice lands, you say? Well, I guess you have a lot to tell me. Come!" She led me deep into the dry lands, chatting it up as if we where old friends. She made me feel oddly at home.
She introduced me to her kin, called the Sirions, and they invited me with open wings as a long-time traveler. They made me a room in their lair, and told me all about them, as did I to them. I felt at home among them, yet something felt unearthly in the hot, dry lands. I almost longed for the familiar sound of the roaring winds, and the chill of the deep snow as I tramped along the ground. My Enstatite Burrower, named Callow, always had a familiar face when I felt alone, and I dreamed of my adventures in the future.
Came to the Sirions on February 10th, 2019.

Leaving the Dragonhome and heading back south towards the Scarred Wastelands was a hard decision, but a necessary one. It was my time to move on! Adventures awaited us, Callow and I. During my travels through the Rotrock Rim, a desolate place full of odd flora and fauna, a skinless mirror wearing rags and bones ambushed me! Althought I was afraid, and ready to fight, he started laughing before the first blow was struck. He introduced himself as Chunky, and told me he just wanted to scare me. He asked after my origins and where I was headed, and easily offered me a place to stay at his clan once he heard I was a traveler. Despite the poor first impression, I went with him. I suppose the fumes from the Wyrmwound had gotten to me.

Chunky chattered the entire way to the cave that houses his clan, talking about his role as a hunter, his apparently lovely wife, how their matriarch would love to meet me and more. On the approach to their cave, you can hear the laughter and hub-bub from ages away. Apparently, Chunky's cheeful trickster nature isn't an anomaly in his clan. A large black and white imperial with soft blue robes sat near the entrance, covered in varying hatchlings. Chunky introduced her as Vee. At first, I thought she was the clan matriarch he spoke so fondly of, but Vee herself quickly dismissed that notion. She said she was the clan's main warrior, and invited me to train with her someday if I so desired. As we were talking, an older fae, covered in cobwebs and rattling bones, flitted down from somewhere up high, introduced herself as the clan's matriarch, Cupcake, and gave me a hug. She emphasized that I was quite welcome here, with this nameless little clan, and told me we were having a celebration that night to welcome me. An entire party, just for me! What a surprise! I wonder if they do this for every traveler they come across.

I do not mind spending some time here before heading off again, in search of more adventure. Hopefully in a more temperate climate next time.
