Biography

Damas
Lost Soul
Chaotic Neutral

The gods are dead. Long dead. Priests and clerics are just trying to abuse whatever power they can get into their claws before the shade comes and consumes us all. Damas knows the truth, and yet he hasn't been reduced to a gibbering wreck. Deep down, he believes if enough dragons work together, there might be a way to find salvation. Now if only somebody would listen to him...

An obsessive conspiracy theorist, Damas draws the ire of the clan by insulting everyone's beliefs and refusing to listen to reason. The gods clearly still exist, the Arcanist even blew up a chunk of the Focal Point last week, for goodness' sake! Damas just pities those whose minds are still clouded by the priesthood, and patiently tries to explain what he believes to be the truth. After all, there's another perfectly reasonable explanation for that. A rivalry between two clans in the area, they decide on a magic and science fair to see who's best, one dragon's creation gets out of control and explodes, and everyone dies. You know how it is.

The only clan member he dislikes is Brizo, for the rest, no matter how zealous in their beliefs, have merely been fooled. Even his friends don't believe him, but as Damas doesn't actually go on about his theories at all times, it's possible to tolerate him. The priestess though - he'll have to figure some way to punish her for wilfully abusing his fellow clan members' trust.

While he does carry a bow, and is part of the clan guard, Damas is merely passable at archery. For fun, he will compete in shooting contests with Jacques, but nearly always loses. And in any case, it's not as if a fae's arrow would be able to pierce the scale of a larger dragon. Instead, he usually just casts a light spell on the arrowheads so that they can be launched as flares. Red means trouble, white confirms that everything is normal at his post, and blue is a request for a snack. There's a number of other colours, but few have actually bothered to memorize the list.

And in a pinch, the arrows can make for an impromptu fireworks display.

There is a reason for why Damas is the way he is. He was once sent to be exalted, but unknown to him, got really lost on his way to the Lightweaver. Upon arriving in the middle of nowhere, full of pride and joy to serve his deity, he instead found himself somewhere which was most notable for its complete lack of a giant dragon goddess. His purpose shattered, Damas determined that all religion was a sham, and returned home to reveal the clerics who had sent him away for who they truly were.

He quickly found himself knocked unconscious by some guards, and then banished from the Sunbeam Ruins, for just turning around and coming back from an exaltation was completely unacceptable. Indignant, Damas turned his back and flew away, knowing that someone, somewhere, would be able to see the corruption that had spread throughout Sornieth, and help him destroy it. There just has to be.

But Damas's fellow dragons aren't willing to give up their false faith. So to find allies, he plans to go to those who don't have any devotion to those long dead gods. The beastclans. Most would consider this fraternizing with the enemy, and would brand Damas a traitor yet again. The prospect makes Damas uneasy, but in these dire times there is a much greater enemy than either side of the endless dragon-beastclan war. Everyone is going to need to work together to survive, and if the task of reaching out to the Beastclans falls to Damas's claws, so be it. He'll do what has to be done, even if he has to temporarily turn his back on his fellow dragons to do it. They'll all be fighting together in the end, after all.
