How does this subspecies fit in with Water Flight themes?:

Short answer:
Craters on the moon are called "seas" and can actually harbor ice, and the moon is a major influence on the ocean and a big contributor to the tides. These dragons are from one of Sornieth's moons and, after being abandoned by the Arcanist, find the power of the Tidelord in the moon's connections to the seas of Sornieth and decide to convert; he then helps the willing ones home.

Long answer:
It is believed members of the Sea of Tranquility subspecies originate from, of all places, a forgotten Arcane experiment; an attempt to establish a draconic foothold on the first of Sornieth's moons.

Their ancestors, a group of willing test subjects, were launched into the sky in a well-constructed rocket with all the supplies needed to create a colony, aided by scientists from Lightning with their ground control thoroughly unprepared for what they would be experiencing. Things went wrong almost immediately, and the unwitting travelers found themselves warped beyond recognition from the twisting of the protective energies experienced by reaching terminal velocity--their limbs twisted and their bodies scarred.

Somehow, the immature and lacking spacecraft managed to limp its way safely to its destination, and it successfully landed next to a large, thin sheet of water nestled away, hidden from evaporation inside a crater entitled the Sea of Tranquility.

Upon landing, the travelers discovered they had changed; no longer needing air to survive and immune to the temperature extremes that come with a lack of atmosphere, they set up base as well as they could on the moon and lived on and near Tranquility, eventually coming to thrive in their new home. They found moon animals to hunt on the sea's shorelines, how to make the sea itself drinkable, and moon plants that could scavenge up a meager living on the sea's waters.

Years passed and they grew to learn they could still reproduce, with their children inheriting their new physiological attributes without garnering their more...extreme mutations. As their hatchlings grew to wonder at the bright, blue planet below them, the first generation told stories--stories of how the waters were vaster and deeper than one could ever imagine, how the land was covered with plants and animals farther than the eye could see, and how they were left by a skinny, pink god despite all their prayers for his answer.

A few generations passed as the original travelers died off, succumbing to their age or their mutations. Eventually, all that was known of the blue planet was its name, Sornieth, and its betrayal.

Over the years, many dragons with varied interests inhabited the moon, eventually learning to study its magics and its connections to the planet it orbited. They grew to learn how the planet responded to the moon's presence and its absence, knowing the ebbs and flows of its tides.

Have read the rules for creating a subspecies?: Yep!

Have you checked that your subspecies does not match or crossover with a previous existing subspecies?: As far as I can tell, the color range gets close to but does not cross over with any existing subspecies. I'm not the first to create a subspecies from outer space, but I believe I'm the first to create a "we were stranded on the moon so we turned against our original god and a few hundred years later we've turned to a new one!" subspecies.
